Abstract: According to the interviews with Dongzhai National Nature Reserve (NNR hereafter) managers and rangers and questionnaire survey on the local people,we analyzed current status and their activities of communities in this NNR,and discussed their possible effects on Reeves's Pheasant. Our results stated that the local people in this NNR increased significantly in the past years, whereas the annual income of these local people was lower in comparison with that of Henan province. The local community activities and their seasonal or diurnal variations, more or less, had effect on Reeves's Pheasants. It was reasonable to provide some suggestions to the responsibilities of the local governments on anti-poverty,the adjustment and arrangement of the local community activities time, fuel wood logging, surrogate energies, and public outreaches.
