It has been more than 20 years since China started formulation and implementation of master plans for its nature reserves.This has played an extremely important role in strengthening the development and standardizing the management of the nature reserves.This paper reviews the formation process of the master plan system for China’s nature reserves,summerizes its basic features such as roles,tasks,key points,aproval,supervision and management and analyzes the requirements and key points of the contents of the master plans.Besides,this paper also introduces the fundamental principles and major methods adopted for devedoping such master plans and describes the development tendency of the master plans for the nature reserves.
