Abstract: We try to do an integrated assessment of desert ecosystem conditions based on theory of ecosystem functions in western China. The result of this assessment is that total value of desert ecosystem servicefunctions in western China is ¥53.72 billion every year. The conclusion is that total value of desert ecosystem service is much more than what people can imagine. The physical product that is used in economic accounting is only a little part of ecosystem service functions.
