Abstract: The study tested 153 groups of ai r temperature(x1), relative humidity (x2), surface temperature of lit ter layer(x3), surface temperature of humic substances layer (x4), thickness of li tter-fall layer(x5) and moisture content of surface fine fuel of lit tler-fall layer(y) in Pinus armandii plantations between 2-5 forest fire danger rating classes in forest fire season in 2008, and the multivariate linear model on moisture content predicting of surface f ine fuel of lit ter was established. The results showed that the main factors inf luencing the moisture content of surface fine fuel were arranged in order of x3>x2>x4>x1.The model selected factors of forest fire environment and fuel characteristics which could be acquired easily to predict moisture content of fuel, and might provide accordance for forest fire danger forecasting, prescribed burning, forest management burning etc.
