Abstract: Change rule of soil physical and chemical properties after“Conversion of Farmland to Forest” in alpine areas is analysed in this paper. The result shows that various physical and chemical property of soil is influenced clearly by “Conversion of Farmland to Forest”, and the natural woodland is better than converted farmland and farmland for total soil porosities, capillary porosities, maximum water holding capacity, capillary moisture capacity and soil organic matter, total nitrogen, readily available potassium,CEC content, especialy in the top layer of soil, and soil chemical and physical properties are improved obviously with the time length of the converted land.

Key words: different plant communities, physical and chemical property of soil, “Conversion of Farmland to Forest”, alpine areas
