The Wetland Resources Status and Conservation Strategy of the Yangtze River Basin

Abstract

Abstract: According to the field survey data of the second national wetlands inventory project,this study analyzed the wetland resources and conservation status of the Yangtze River basin,including upstream,midstream and downstream.The information of wetlands of international and national importance in this region,e.g.,number,distribution,area,forms of conservation,etc.,was introduced.Meanwhile,the major threats to the wetlands in Yangtze River basin were revealed by investigating the threatened status and impacted area of 423 important wetlands within the river basin.And the wetland protection countermeasures were discussed.The results will provide basic data and related information for wetland protection and comprehensive management strategiess and tudy in the Yangtze River basin.
