With the development of society and economy, the loss appraisal of forest resources is outspreading well. But in practical work there are many issues to be dealt with, for example, the technical method, the economic and teahnical indicators and the qualification identification of appraisal units. The article, combining some typical examples from the perspectives of practical situation, brings forward some suggestions for improving the loss appraisal of forest resources in terms of management and technology.

A practical investigation of the five main tree species’ diameter, Larix Principis-rupprechtii, Chinese Pine, Populus davidiana, Betula platyphylla, Quercus Liaotungensis, is conducted in Pangquangou Nature Reserve. The χ

test and curve distribution trend are used to ascertain if they obey the normal distribution. To the tree species, the maximum likelihood estimation and minimum risk equivariant estimation are used to estimate the unknown parameters. The analysis and comparison of the above two methods show that the result of minimum risk equivariant estimation in fitting the stand forest diameters is more precise. The result indicates that the diameters of Larix Principis-rupprechtii, Chinese Pine, Populus davidiana, Betula platyphylla belong to the normal distribution, while that of Quercus Liaotungensis does not. And dynamic prediction of the diameters of the trees obeying normal distribution in this area is also done.

This paper mainly focuses on Yunnan Pine community of Yunlong dam’s headwater conservation forest in Kunming. 15 sampling plots were selected as a typical representative for this type of study in the paper. Through the coordinate comprehensive analysis and classified evaluation, this paper appraised different structures of various communities and their relationship with the functions of ecological water conservation. It concludes that the mixed species of plants and conifer with complex structure of arbor, shrub and lawn were the best water conservation forests, the mixed species of hard broadleaf forests and coniferous forest were inferior to the former, and the single of pure forests of Yunnan Pine with grass were the worst.

After a lot of plots were established in 1986 and 1987, they were remeasured about every two years, so we used remeasured data 4-14 times. According to these data, volume, density, tree species composition, diameter class, q value, etc. were analyzed. Therefore, structure optimization in sustainable forest management of natural forest was concluded. Then we put forward some suggestions in the management which is leading to the optimal stand structure. It is worth of pointing out that this research is couducive to the target of natural forest management in Changbai Mountains, and has practical significance.

In this paper, characteristics of drought tolerance in mycorrhizal fungi seedlings and uninoculated seedlings of Pinus massoniana are studied by using the artificial simulation method of water stress. By measuring the physiological indicators of chlorophyll content, the activaty of NR、MDA content, the root activity, soil moisture and leaves water content, the characteristics of drought tolerance of mycorrhizal fungi seedlings were explored. At the same time, the likely effectiveness of Pinus massoniana mycorrhizal fungi seedlings was probed under water stress.

Experiments and research work are conducted on the scions taken from different parts of the mother trees and the scions with different base diameters and different lengths, which have different impacts on rooting rate, number and length of the roots. Comparative tests are also done for the impacts of different cuttings and net bag containers on the rooting rate of the scions. The results show that the scions taken from the middle parts of the mother tree with the base diameter at 2.1mm-3.0mm and the length at 16cm perform best, which yield high rooting rate, more and longer roots.

Based on the field investigation of selectd sample plots a study on the spatial distribution pattern of 3 types of forests (primitive forest, successive cutting forest and clear cutting forest) of Larix gmelinii was conducted in north Daxing'anling in Inner Mongolia. The results demonstrated that the distribution pattern of 3 typs of forests were all in cluster distribution, but they are different in the extent. The intensity of the clear cutting forest is the biggest, primitive forest is intermidiate and successive cutting forest is the smallest. According to the results of the study, some suggestions about management of Larix gmelinii were put forward.

Following the techno-route, this system realized the management of forest resource based on GIS, Database and Internet technologies. The users can manage, update, identify, analyse and output forestry resource information according to the system. The system, built on the technology of C/S and B/S, serves three levels of forestry management departments-province, town and county. These systems at the three levels can operate independently and compatibly and perform data sharing, which not only provide a technical platform for forestry management departments but also for the public.
